“Oh honey, time to go grocery shopping!”
I love the grocery business. I was in my local store – I know, what’s a guy who works for an ecommerce company doing going to a store? To learn. I’m a hands on trainer so that makes me a hands on learner. I like to see the employees at work, the customers as they shop, and changes in the market.
The other day I overheard a young man on his cell phone with his ‘honey’ on the other end. He said – quite loudly, “Honey, I don’t know why you make me come here, I can never find this stuff.” It was after work and I think he was more concerned about his beer getting warm than anything else.
I wanted to ask him, “Imagine if your honey went online, ordered all the items, and all you had to do was pick up the items and pay for it? Not only that, some one came out to your car to pack it?” Well, I didn’t because he was in a bad mood and a little bigger than me.
This is an example of another demographic that needs to get groceries and would run to a store that would offer this online service. I’ll be back in my store to find more of these potential online shoppers. I’ll keep my distance so I don’t get hurt.
