The article continues to read that though the ecommerce retail sales accounted for only 1.4 % in 2002 they predicts this channel will be recorded as 7% increase in 2008. They then go on to predict that by 2012 ecommerce will account for as much as 28% of overall retail business, with the highest growth in food, beverage, and grocery.

Many things account for this growth, especially in grocery. Generations of new grocery shoppers do not know a world without the Internet.
