ShopRite’s new Weekly Specials Widget got some much deserved love today from the blog “avkthinks” last Monday. The writer clearly explains why the widget is successful and highlighted some major reasons:
“1) Clean branding…clearly ShopRite, not over crowded or complicated
2) Clearly communicates timing, sense of urgency – 7 days sale ends
3) Dynamic creative rotation of sale items allows for partnership
4) Search for what you want, the audience is in control
5) Customize the information for your local store – Norwalk, CT here
Bravo, a lot accomplished in a little space with nearly everything there to improve user experience.”
One thing to take away is that this widget doesn’t have a lot of “bells and whistles”, it is just clearly branded and a simply display of items that are on sale in the shopper’s preferred store. “You don’t have to have a talking, walking, dancing, laughing application…you just need one to help grow your brand and your business.”
ShopRite launched the widget in October and has had success since. Many coupon “bloggers” downloaded the widget to their blogs. This in turn generates more traffic for their blogs as deal driven buyers or out to find the best in savings.
What does this mean for grocery retailers? MyWebGrocer can now develop their own widgets and from there retailer’s are enabled to offer their valued customers something new. different, and something that will help them save money in the end as well as time. Busy shoppers want convenience and this is one way to offer it; give your shoppers what they want!
Cheers!
